Mark co-founded Liberation Labs in 2022 to fill a crucial manufacturing gap for novel proteins and enable today’s biotechnology’s visionaries to commercialize the bioproducts of the future - foods, materials, and yet to be discovered breakthroughs that will make all of our lives better. He’s leading the development of a 600,000 liter precision fermentation contract manufacturing facility in Indiana. An engineer by training, Mark has spent nearly his entire career designing and developing commercial-scale manufacturing projects. From biofuels to food products, he’s been at the center of driving innovation in biomanufacturing. As the Vice President of Engineering at Imperium Renewables he led the construction of the nation’s largest biodiesel plant. At Solazyme, he led projects for its tailored oil technology and commercial manufacturing of innovative food products. At Impossible Foods, he led efforts to commercialize the technology behind a new generation of meats and cheeses made entirely from plants. At Harris Group, he led the Process Industries business unit that focuses on conversion of biomass into fuel, fiber and chemicals. Mark holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University.
